Acne Remedies: Quick Methods for Treating Acne

You don’t have to leave your acne untreated. Letting nature heal your condition is possible, but you could help by considering a few methods others have used to treat or even cure acne.

First, there is a wide assortment of acne products on the market. You can buy many of them at your local drugstore without first seeing your doctor, or if your condition warrants it, your doctor will prescribe a suitable treatment.

Most acne products contain alcohol or peroxide. Both of these work to kill bacteria, remove oils, and dry out the skin. You might also want to consider buying an over-the-counter exfoliation product. This will help in removing the dead cells within the skin, as well as any debris contained within the pores.

Of course, while there are many causes of acne, your first line of defense should include cleaning your skin at least once or twice each day. This helps to remove dirt that forms on the surface of the skin.

You should also take a close look at stress in your life. While there is no agreement about stress bringing on, or aggravating acne, you can use your common sense to see if there is a connection. But some studies show that your body will react to stress by producing excess levels of hormones, thus increasing the oil (sebum) in the skin.

Diet is another area where there is a continuing debate about whether your diet affects acne. Again, you can use your own judgment to decide if your eating habits promote acne, or make it worse. However, the right diet will give you the nutrients needed by your body to fight off and heal any infections that may occur.

If none of these methods work, see your doctor or a dermatologist. You would then get a proper evaluation of your condition.
